You'd think that seven hours after the official announcement that the local blogosphere would be all achatter about Mayor Potter's permanent appointment today of Rosie Sizer as Portland police chief. As near as we can tell from Orblogs, there's been nary a mention on the blogwire.
What does this mean? Is the occasion too obvious to mention, a conclusion so preordained that it barely merits mention? Or is she just so wonderful that no one can think of anything negative to say? [And far be it for we bloggers to say something positive, right?] Or maybe no one cares? Or thinks she'll last? Or ...?
The silence. What gives?
Sizer just seems like someone who is human, but who distinctly does NOT fuck around on the job. (I mean that metaphorically, her predecessor's literal transgressions notwithstanding). Until I hear different, sounds like Tom made the right call.

I agree with the previous comment. She seems capable but without knowing her we'll just have to wait and see. At least Mayor Potter did not just promote the name of the next white man on the list. I have nothing against white men per se, since I am one as well. But diversity is important.
The only real comment I could make at this time is that she really should do something else with her hair. :-)

other than the fact that she was a part of the community policing crew that looked into the kendra james incident and was issued a written reprimand for not filing a report about those two off-duty cops that beat the hell out of somebody downtown...she seems great.

I'm a bit concerned. Wasn't it the police department's head of HR who led the investigation over Foxworthy's past history in the department? Why exactly had she not done her job when he was being considered for the position of police chief in the first place.
And is she heading the background on this new candidate?
(Maybe an unhealthy HR department is part of the problem we've seen with Portand's police in the past several years...)

Perhaps as a demonstration of how irrelevant Portland is to the rest of the state?
