It's hard not to get caught up in the enthusiasm surrounding the survivalism/rescue story coming out of WWP's old stomping grounds in southern Oregon. Amid all the excitement about a happy ending to a story that could have gone drastically wrong otherwise, we noticed this snippet:
Peter Stivers rested his hands on the shoulders of his 9-year-old son, Sabastyan. "He had fun. They enjoyed it," Peter Stivers said. "They didn't know we was in trouble."
Interestingly, as the day wore on and the story wound its way through the newswire grinder, the paragraph started coming out like this:
Peter Stivers rested his hands on the shoulders of his 9-year-old son, Sabastyan. "He had fun. They enjoyed it," Peter Stivers said. "They didn't know we were in trouble." [Emphasis added]
Venture your own guess as to what happened. [But we think we have a pretty good idea.]
