Oh, yeah, you remember those First Day of School Essays, don't you? Nevermind the question whether they were the inspiration of educators trying to find common ground among a disparate classroom of pupils on Day One, or whether it was the sign of an instructor caught short without a lesson plan ... we all experienced it at one time or another.
After a brief, two-week respite, Worldwide Pablo is now back, and oddly he feels compelled to obey that long-forgotten, perhaps stale, memory of the once-esteemed First-day Back Essay. And you know what? Summer's over, but nothing's changed: Gay marriage is still illegal, and weirdly, more constitutional than ever. Jim and Tom are still neck and neck ... or is it ... neck at neck? The Bush campaign still refuses to run on its record. And so on...
No matter. WWP is happy to be back. [And that is a promise.]
And in case you were wonderin', here's what WWP did on his summer vacation. [Sad, but true; it involved at least one or two Percoset-laden afternoons, lollygagging -- emphasis on the gagging -- on Perry Mason and Regis Philbin...]
Oh, and then there was this rare appearance. Of course, at the time, WWP was hiding his walking cane....
Ya know, I never had to write one of those essays ... hm.

Oh, Anne ... count yerself lucky. WWP wishes he'd had the mind to keep his: they'd be PDF's here by now, you know...

So far, so good: what pain exists is a remnant not of the original cause, but a lingering echo of the surgery. Good news, we think... Thanks for the kind word.

Welcome back! Though you wrecked my version of events, which had you vacationing on some tropical island reviewing your photo album of Olympiad's of the Future. Heh.
