That sucks
Three weeks ago, WWP stood in line and drank the Kool-Aid with other first-day adopters of the new iPhone technology. We're really loving the new 3G phone, with its built in iPod, the camera [see the photo roll at right], all the neat built-in features and the apps -- especially the apps. Apps Store is awesome.
Not so awesome is the AT&T service. We haven't experienced this many dropped calls, connection failures and spotty coverage areas since our early cellphone days more than a decade ago. In the early and mid-1990s, one would expect those sort of shortcomings. But, hello, isn't this the 21st century? What would possess Apple -- maker of all things sleek and wonderful -- to hook up with such lame service?
And don't get us started on the Edge network. Every now and then, when the 3G service is not available, the iPhone switches to the older, slower Edge network. Edge, in a word, is really sucky. [Okay, that's two words.]
Still, when Apple rolls out another version of this phone, you can pretty much bet that WWP will be standing in that line too. He ought to have his head examined.
...Oh, but wait. He is.
